A complete but warped, cast, gold, inscribed, finger-ring or 'posie' dating to the 16th or 17th centuries. Description: The hoop is circular in plan, and is worn and crushed. The external circumference is decorated with a continuous, moulded relief which is difficult to discern due to damage, but has the appearance of a scrolling, foliate, pattern. The inscription, which runs around the internal circumferences, is in uppercase and reads 'VIVE . VT . VIVAS'. The decoration, all in counter-relief, comprises a repeated design of four eight petalled flowers or sunbursts between vertical bars, separated by other curls. These design elements in counter relief create cells that may have contained enamel as on LON-A11C97 which has traces of enamel remaining within in. A slightly worn and abraded Post-Medieval gold and niello/enamel 'memento mori' type mourning-ring, likely dating soon after 23rd of June 1668 and commemorating Mrs. Jane Brodnax. The flat oval shaped bevel with a small section of the hoop either end, concave on the inside surface and a 'D' cross-section to the hoop.
