Fragment of a silver posy ring of late sixteenth or early seventeenth century date (AD 1575 - AD 1625). Treasure Case no. BM2005 T431 (disclaimed). Length 21mm, width of hoop 5mm. Weight 0.72g. The hoop is decorated on the outside with alternating motifs in relief: an oak leaf (probably) and an acorn (possibly). The "acorn" is set within an oval frame. The inside of the hoop is inscribed in serifed capitals with the last letters of the word virtue. [VI]RTVE is followed by a cross saltire. The breaks are old.

The ring is misshapen and flattened. The outer face of the hoop has moulded decoration that consists of a repeated abstract floral design. The visible parts of this ring are corroded and the patina is lost.

The outside of the hoop is decorated with two raised parallel sinuous lines all around the circumference. The patina is lost and the inside of the hoop is particularly corroded.

A complete gold posy ring of Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1550 - c. AD 1700). Diameter: 17.0mm; width: 2.1mm; weight: 1.02g. Treasure case no. 2008 T118 (disclaimed). The ring has a narrow hoop and plain exterior. The inside of the hoop is inscribed in serifed capitals: BE CONSTANT and has an inscribed eight-pointed star at the beginning and end of the inscription. When found, the ring was misshapen but was remodelled to its present circular form by a jeweller prior to being reported by the finder, as Potential Treasure.

An incomplete misshapen cast copper alloy and gilded finger ring of probable Post-Medieval date (AD 1500 – AD 1800). Length: 16.3mm; width: 7.9mm and 3.9nmm thick. Weight: 2.24g. About half of the hoop is missing due to two old breaks. The ring has a slightly raised circular bezel which is decorated with a saltire cross which has probably been formed by punching. The ring is squashed significantly out of shape but it remains intact with no breaks to the band. This ring has a very small raised rim at each edge and at the centre is a circumferential rib which is 2.2mm in width. Complete copper alloy finger ring of probable eighteenth century date (AD 1700 – AD 1800). External diameter 21mm, width of hoop 3.8mm and 1.3mm thick. Weight 2.16g. The hoop is simple and the external surface is plain and slightly convex. The internal surface is slightly convex and has serifed initials G and R stamped either side of a six-pointed star. These initials are, perhaps, those of the wearer. Dark green patina overall, except where small areas of damage have occurred to reveal a bright red metal.

Incomplete cast copper alloy finger ring of probable Post Medieval date (AD 1500 – AD 1700). Length 22mm, maximum width 13.5mm and thickness of bezel 1.7mm. Weight 3.86g. The bezel is oval in plan and has a shallow groove around its perimeter containing the capital letters I B. There is a six pointed star below the letters. The shoulders taper away from the bezel to form the hoop which is incomplete. The ring is slightly corroded although a mid-green patina survives over about 50% of the surfaces.

A complete but misshapen gold posy finger-ring of 16th-17th century date (1500-1700). Treasure case no. 2009 T388. A misshapen posy ring with a thin D-section hoop, the exterior plain and the interior inscribed with serifed capitals: *YOVRS*FOR*EVER*. The stops are in the form of four-pointed stars. The find contains a minimum of 10% gold and predates 1700. It thus qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of precious metal content and age.

Complete finger ring made from a flat strip of copper alloy. Probably Early Post Medieval (AD 1500 – AD 1600). External diameter 20mm, width 6mm and about 0.5mm thick. Weight 2.03g The outer surface of the hoop has punched decoration in the form of alternating rectangular panels of voided cross saltires and oblique lines. The joint where the two ends of the strip abut is clearly visible. The inside of the hoop appears to be plain. The ring is slightly corroded and there is no evidence for gilding.
