To the back of the band is a split. There is foliate decoration on the shoulders. To the reverse of the bezel is an oval shape pattern formed of raised pellets; inside this appears to be three raised digits. Evidence from the unseen side of the bezel suggests that this ring dat…

There are two long panels with another small panel between them which depicts the same quatrefoil flower motif. The ring has been cut or snapped but the break does not appear to be new. The ring has then distorted and curved. Fede rings, which come from the Italian word for faith, started to become popular from the 12th century until the 19th century as symbols of love and faith. A silver Post Medieval to Modern finger ring, probably dating from AD 1700 - 1900. The finger ring is damaged and squashed, so the hoop has sprung open and been flattened. The hoop is D shaped in cross-section. The outer face is worn, but traces of decoration in the form of a band of recessed triangles along each long edge are visible. The bezel takes the form of a belt buckle. The buckle frame is formed from a separate piece of silver, bent into a curve and soldered to the front of the hoop. An integral bump inside the curve, on the hoop surface, is probably the worn remains of a sim…
