A highly tinned copper-alloy finger ring of post-Medieval date, probably 18-19th century. The finger ring has an undecorated hoop with a flat bezel. The bezel is roughly hexagonal in plan with an impression of corded decoration around the edges. The flat surface has a crude anchor carved into its face. The object was originally tinned to give it a silvery appearance. The light weight of the object and poor production quality suggests it was a low cost trinket rather than a valuable piece of jewellery.

A copper alloy finger ring which is probably post medieval in date. It has a stirrup shaped hoop with a thickened oval bezel. The shoulders are decorated with incised lines forming chevrons pointing towards the bezel. The bezel is worn but seems to be inscribed with two pairs of longitudinal lines with a pair of zig zag lines, or a stylised S between them. The hoop is corroded and some of the edges are missing. It is D shaped in section. The ring may have been used as a signet ring, and probably dates from the 16th century.Often letters are used on these rings but this example appears…

Copper alloy Post Medieval finger ring, 18th century in date. It has ac circular hoop which is flat all the way around. The outer face is decorated with vertical lines all around the diameter. On the inner face there are three lions stamped, this is presumably the makers mark. The Norfolk FLO had a case where a copper alloy finger ring had been stamped with a lion and the word GOLD, presumably to try to fool someone into thinking it was a gold ring. The marks on this finger ring may be something similar.

A copper alloy Finger ring dating from the Post Medieval period. It has a thin circular bezel which is integral to the loop. The loop is D shaped in section and has slightly flared shoulders. There is no decoration. The ring is similar in shape to Post Medieval signet rings, but the lack of any design is unusual. It may have been a blank for inscribing a signet on at a later date. It has a smooth grey patina perhaps suggesting a white metal coating. Compare LIN-D9DD46.

An incomplete cast copper alloy finger ring, probably post-medieval in date. The ring has a split bezel. The hoop has a D-shaped section which expands into a flattened, triangular terminal. Only one terminal survives as the other has broken off. The flat end of the surviving terminal indicates that the bezel must have been split, as it does not attach to the other terminal. The terminal has been decorated with a stamped design, which comprises a raised line down the centre with arches either side with a pellet in each field. The decoration appears to continue around the hoop, but i…

A complete cast copper-alloy finger ring, probably post-medieval in date – it is also possible that this ring is Roman in date, but the original surface has been cleaned off, so it is not possible to say for certain. The hoop has a rectangular section which expands into flaring shoulders, which in turn expand into a rectangular bezel. The bezel is undecorated but either side of the bezel has been incised with two parallel lines.

A copper alloy finger ring in the form of a snake. The ring is 21.3mm long, 16.5mm wide and 14.5mm thick. It is in the form of a coiled snake made from a single strand of wire wound into a coil. The wire is D shaped in section except for the head of the snake which is flattened and wider. The eyes are represented by ovals and there is a lozenge pattern of the back of the head. Scales are marked along the whole of the snake but they have been worn away on the outward facing part of the wire. The ring is made of four turns of wire and then the tail of the snake runs up the outside of th…
