Late post medieval gold mourning ring without bezel, inscribed externally on five scrolls separated by volutes, the letters against a black enamel background *J:* RAYNER *OB:20* JUNE 1744 AE:48 (the *'s are actually triangular quatrefoils) Internal diameter 17mm. External diameter 20.5mm. Thickness 3mm. Weighing 4.49g. Rings of this design with external inscriptions are typical of the period after c.1740 into the reign of George III (Oman 1974, 73-4)

The two 'v's are written as 'u's and the letters 'f' and 's' are elongated. There is a possible maker's mark in the form of a very worn stamped 'H' between the beginning and end of the inscription. Post-Medieval gilt finger ring, bent and distorted, broad bezel tapers to become narrowed band towards back part with transverse chop. Decorated with a hollowed series of cells forming a segmented elongated possible setting for missing enamel, glass or stones, however each vertical bar ends in a pellet. Distorted dimensions: 14 x 26. Width of band, 6mm.

Silver finger ring. Shallow 'D' sectioned band expanding smoothly to rectangular bezel consisting of a central lozengiform panel engraved AI surrounded by four triangular facets each engraved with a triangle filled with horizontal lines. The shoulders are engraved with lozengiform fans. 18th century The style of the lettering and the shape of the bezel are more consistent with a dating to 18th century. In the absence of any marks or other distinguishing features, this ring is not classed as Treasure. External diameter 20mm, internal diameter 18mm. Weighing 2.12g.

Similar to a example larger and more elaborate mid 17th century example with internal inscription in Oman (1974, plate 59, f). 16th - 17th century. Internal 21 x 17mm, external 25 x 20mm, bezel 12 x 17.5mm. Weighing 1.77g.

17th Century gold posy ring. Band consisting externally of ten circular bosses with corded borders. Between each boss on both sides of the band are smaller round knops. The flat internal surface is inscribed 'God gives in crease to Loue and peace'. The 's' of crease is very elongated and almost in the form of an f missing the cross bar. The tail of the letter 'p' extends backwards to underline the last two letters of 'and'. See Oman (1974, plate 58 c) for a very similar example with a different inscription. Gold puzzle ring in the form of two linked rings, now distorted, of square section, each with a twist at one point where there are also signs of wear. This is almost certainly a puzzle ring, usually formed of multiple hoops, secured with a central twist, often forming the bezel. A puzzle ring with only two hoops is unusual, but given the damage is is possible that the ring is not complete. Original internal diameter of each ring c. 20mm. Section 1 x 1mm.
