Complete late post-medieval decorative finger ring (c. 1700 - 1900 AD). The finger ring has a ridge that runs transversally across the hoop and is flanked on one side by a palemette motif in relief which widens towards the ridge, and on the other side by an intricate floral decorative pattern also in relief, which terminates in a convex raised line with internal furrow and a triangular frond pointing away from the ridge. A worn and corroded tin-alloy (pewter) late Medieval to Post Medieval finger ring, probably dating from the mid-15th to mid-17th century AD. The ring is large (internal diameter 22.2mm) and circular in plan and broadly flat in section; it is formed of a simple band with five square panels. Each of these panels is decorated with a quattrefoil flower, with four smaller petals depicted through a linear incision within these. It is possible that the imagery of the flower may be a depiction of the Tudor Rose, though no parallels have yet been found, and the size of the ring may suggest it …
