A cast copper alloy fragment of the plate from the underside of a knife hilt, possibly Roman in date. The object is triangular in plan with a sub-rectangular hole on the side of the breakage. In section the plate is trapezoidal. These objects were found by divers in the River Tyne downstream of the Roman bridge at Corbridge.
