A silver Medieval coin; a penny probably of Edward I (1272-1307). The initial mark is unidentifiable, as is much of the bust and the end of the inscription. This makes it difficult to definitively narrow down. However, class X is the most common and is characterised by the bifoliate crown. This coin seems to have crown type 3 (North) and is probably a class X example. This coin was minted in Canterbury. It measures 16.1mm x 15.7mm x 0.73mm, weighing 0.92g. See North Vol. 2, p.24-25.
