A copper alloy Post Medieval to Modern coin, or imitiation coin, of the Ottoman Empire, probably of 19th century date, perhaps of Muhmad II, possibly dating from AD 1835. Measurements: diameter 23.2mm, thickness 0.9mm, weight 1.16g. The design is similar to https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces29671.html, but it is struck in copper alloy. It is unclear whether it is a low denomination coin such as 2 para, or an imitation coin or token. Compare PUBLIC-634EB7 which is recorded as an imitation coin, made for use in jewellery. Obverse Toughra, perhaps of Mahmud II,  and …

A modern copy of a Medieval coin. This imitation is copying coins of Edward I (AD 1272 - 1307) but the obverse and reverse appear to be from different coins. The obverse is Class 4c-e (nick in crown, egg waisted S, open E, comma shaped apostrophies, unbarred A) and the reverse is Class 1-3g (Composite S, barred A), London mint. This is not a known mule. The coin can be recognised as a modern imitatoin because it is made from three layers of metal which can be seen on the edge of the coin. It is 19.1mm diameter, 1.4mm thick and 2.76g. Obverse: Crowned facing bust. EDW R' ANGL' D…

A copper alloy fantasy coin, a cast imitation probably of 20th century manufacture. Its designs are based on reverse designs of Iron Age silver tetradrachms attributed to the Eastern Celtic peoples of the Danube basin. Genuine coins of this type are themselves imitations of tetradrachms of Philip II of Macedon (and his successors) dating from about 400 BC - 100 BC. For the side with the right-facing horseman and the inscription, reading PHILIP[] in Greek, see D Allen, Catalogue of the Celtic Coins in the British Museum, Volume I, Silver coins of the East Celts and Balkan peoples (J Ke…

A Modern coin; a possible imitation milled shilling of George III dated 1820 and stamped with a letter T in the neck. The coin looks like a New Coinage shilling of 1820, number 3790 in Spink's Standard Catalogue. However, the coin is a millimetre larger than the one illustrated in Spink, at 23.6mm diameter and 1.6mm thick, 5.6g. It has a Roman, serifed T stamped sideways on the neck, the base towards the right of the coin. There is also a dent in the top edge of the coin. In other respects, the coin is in very good condition, though the silver has patinated to a dark brown colour. …

A copper alloy Post Medieval to Modern foreign coin; a coin of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. It is a coin of Sultan Madmud II who ruled Hijra between 1223 - 1255 (Islamic calendar) or 1808 - 1839 AD. It has been pierced and probably reused as a pendant. There are Arabic inscriptions on either side within a beaded border framed by thin lines. One side has the inscription in three lines, and the other has a less clear pattern, possibly written in a circle which it has not been possible to translate. A translation of the Arabic inscription on the obverse reads: "Sultan Mahmud Khan, May his…

A probably modern imitation lead alloy coin in the form of an Early Medieval silver coin. The piece appears to be inspired by a coin of Eadgar (959 - 975), Pre-reform two line type (959 - 973). It is very similar to North number 741, but the moneyer's name is 'NORB/ER' which is not one of the listed possibilities. The finder has had the piece tested using XRF and it is made of a high lead alloy. The crosses in the design seem thinner and cruder than the illustrated genuine coins. The piece is 22.63mm in diameter and 1.4mm thick. It weighs 3.9g.

There is no legend. It is 15.6mm in diameter and 3.1mm thick. It weighs 3.69gm. A similar coin but struck in silver and with the bust facing the opposite way is listed on http://www.anythinganywhere.com/commerce/coins/coinpics/ancgk-classgk.htm as an ancient greek coin; a drachm dating from 338 - 308 BC, BMC number 109, 38. Another example with the bust facing right can be seen on http://www.museumsurplus.…
