An early medieval Series D type 2c sub variety 3d early silver penny (sceat or sceatta) dating to between 690-710 AD. As Metcalf 1993: 184-190 or Abramson 2017: 65, 8-10. The obverse has a radiate crowned bust facing right with transverse A behind. The reverse has a central cross with a pellet in each angle surrounded by blundered letters. This type is thought to be a continental issue, likely minted at Domburg. Further analysis by Op den Velde and Metcalf in 2007 identifies this coin as sub variety 3d although it is noted by the authors that this is…
