An Early Medieval copper alloy contemporary copy of a sceatta. The surface of the coin has been silvered, there are areas of the coin where the silver have been worn away to reveal the copper alloy beneath. This means that the coin is illegible. It probably dates from the late 7th to mid 8th centuries AD.

A silver early medieval coin, probably a Merovingian denier dating c.725-50 and possibly minted in Poiters St.Hilaire (ancient Petavis) although this is uncertain. For similar coins from this mint see Depeyrot 2001, pl. 5, Poiters St-HIl nos 3 and 4. However, while the reverse type on these matches this coin, the bust here is of much better workmanship. ref: G.
