A tin farthing of James II (1685-88), very corroded and is chipped around the edge. There is a rectangular copper plug in the centre of the coin. The date is illegible, but these coins were issued for 1697 only. It is 23.6mm in diameter and 2.9mm thick. It weighs 4.96gm. Reference: Spink (2003) number 3421.

Unusually light, almost 'plasticy' shilling or halfcrown of Charles I or Charles II, probably a contemporary forgery. Mint mark not visible. A local expert in Charles I coins, Bob Lyall, argues that, "at 6.12 grams, it is of full weight for a Charles shilling (some provincial emergency mints are lightweight) and for a period of just a few weeks in 1626 the Tower struck light weight coins with mm cross on steps whereby a shilling weighed around 5.1 grams. From the bit of the legend that is still legible, the style of the letters look like contemporary forgeries; certainly the C on the …

Tin farthing dating from the post-medieval period, probably between AD1684-1692. The tin farthing is complete with the copper alloy plug still in the centre, but the obverse and reverse are so worn that the issuer/ruler cannot be determined. It would have been either Charles II, James II or William and Mary. http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/farth.html: "In 1684 the farthing was issued in tin with a copper plug in the centre.[...] These are scarce coins in as good condition as that illustrated because of tin disease. A tin coin with a central copper core. There are only a very few details on this coin and because of its metal content its either a William & Mary Tin halfpenny 1689-1690 or a James II halfpenny 1685 to 1687, a very faintly discernable 'II' can be made out if the coin is held at an angle in Natural daylight and this would more likely make it a James II

Post medieval tin halfpenny of James II (1685-88). The obverse, reverse and date are illegible; 1685-1687. The edges are very rough with old breaks, showing the layered, flaky nature of the metals structure. There is a square 3mm squared indentation in the centre either side of the disc holding the copper plug. These coins are usually found in very poor condition due to tins tendancy to corrode, accelerated by it's reaction with the copper plug.

A highly worn and damaged late 17th-century post-medieval halfpenny of William III, Third issue (c. 1699 - c. 1701; cf. Spink 3556). This is possibly a contemporary copy in tin; the official coins are struck in copper, the last tin coins having been phased out in the early 1690s. It is slightly bent, heavily depleted, and appears to be delaminating.
