A Roman coin; a contemporary copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235). The coin is made of copper alloy and silvered. The silver coating is wearing off in places. There is a small chip from the flan at 11 o'clock on the obverse. It is 19.6mm in diameter and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 1.92gm. The coin is a copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander dating from AD 230, showing Sol on the reverse. Cf Sear Volume II number 7910. Compare also to YORYM-3E3D32. The coin seems a little odd, and it is unusually shiny, so it is possible that it is a modern forgery.

A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Julia Mamaea, (218-231 AD). The reverse shows Vesta holding a palladium. See Sear Volume II, number 8217. There is some copper corrosion on the coin, but this appears to be on the surface of the silver, not below, so the coin is probably not a contemporary copy.
