A silver plated copper alloy forgery of a Charles I (1625-49) shilling. Some of the silver has worn away or has been damaged, revealing the copper alloy core. The original shilling would have been struck in the Tower Mint under Parliament and is probably a copy of North's Group F, but as no initial mark can be seen it is not possible to be certain. The bust on the obverse is so worn that only a fragment of the crown can be seen. The reverse silver plate has suffered from iron staining and corrosion, again revealing the copper core in places.

No inner circles and a small flat single arched crown. On the reverse the oval garnished shield is visible. The style of the garnishing around the shield suggests a late date for this issue, possibly at one of the Civil War mints.
