An incomplete Early-medieval silver penny of Edward the Confessor (AD 1042-1066). 'Pointed Helmet' type struck between AD 1053-1056. The lower third of the coin is broken and missing so part of the legend on each face has been lost. The remaining letters on the reverse suggest the moneyer was Ægelman in Bedford. North 825, BMC vii, Hild.F.
