These coins were discovered by [redacted] in September 2006 while using a metal detector on cultivated land.
Description of object
The find consists of two silver Iron Age coins of the Uninscribed Western silver 'Regular' type. Coin number two is essentially the same type as the first but with simplified images.
Obverse: Face right, pellet on chin, hair formed of two rows of crescents
Reverse: Triple-tailed horse to left, ?flower beneath

Gaulish silver unit based on the Roman Republican denarius and its half unit the quinarius.
The coin shows a helmeted head of Roma (the personification of the city of Rome) facing left and a prancing horse on the reverse. The designs are clearly engraved in imitation of denarii / quinarii of the late second century BC.
One coin of this type exists in the BM collection (Catalogue of Celtic Coins in the British Museum, Volume II, Coins of N Italy, South and Central France, Switzerland and South Germany' no. S 298, p63).
The type is linked to a series with the Greek inscription KALETEDOU …
