Gaulish silver unit based on the Roman Republican denarius and its half unit the quinarius. The coin shows a helmeted head of Roma (the personification of the city of Rome) facing left and a prancing horse on the reverse. The designs are clearly engraved in imitation of denarii / quinarii of the late second century BC. One coin of this type exists in the BM collection (Catalogue of Celtic Coins in the British Museum, Volume II, Coins of N Italy, South and Central France, Switzerland and South Germany' no.
