A clipped and worn post-Medieval billon 15 denier piece of Louis XIV (1643-1715) of France. Minted at Poitiers or Saint Lo. Obverse: [ ]; Crowned shield containing three fleurs-de-lis (two over one) Reverse: [ ]; Voided cross, each arm terminating with a cross, a fleur-de-lis in each angle. A circle at centre of cross contains a letter 'C' or 'G', LVD in first angle Diameter: 22.4mm. Weight: 1.15g. DA=12:6.

Obverse: [LVD XIIII] D G FR ET [N] R; Cross formed of four groups of two l backed, each arm being crowned and cutting the legend, quartered of four lilies diverging from the centre; the workshop letter in a circle in the heart of the cross. Reverse: [SIT NOMEN DOMIN (MG) BENEDICTVM] 1693; Ecu de France crowned. Diameter: 22.0mm. Weight: 0.91g. DA=12:6.
