A post-medieval silver fourpence of Charles II (1660-85), dated 1670. The coin has been pierced at three o'clock on the obverse, with the hole made from the reverse, and has been bent into an S shape, perhaps to serve as a love token. It is 19mm in diameter and 0.9mm thick. It weighs 1.83gm. Reference: Spink, number 3384. Compare CORN-D53AF4 and HAMP-97B618. The record for DUR-99E534 notes that: The re-shaping of the coin to form an 'S-shape' likely indicates that it was a love-token or 'Bender'.
