A Post-Medieval coin: A copper alloy contemporary copy of a silver shilling of Edward VI (1547-1553), second period (1549-1550); initial mark probably Y (1549-1551); minted in London. Year in the reverse inscription written in Roman numerals: MDXLIX (1549). See North, volume 2, page 101, number 1917.
This is a copper alloy core which has been silver coated. Other examples on the database include PAS record IDs: LON-79DAB7, GLO-57DD11 and BH-8275B8.
