Contemporary forgery of a half crown of Charles I. This is base metal plated, 31mm in diameter and weighs 10.99g. It is very worn with base metal showing through the plating. It is interesting that this piece produced in the 1930's appears to have been accepted as genuine for very many years, possibly until the great re-coinage of 1696. Mint : Tower, group III. Date : 1635-6 for prototype. Reference : cf. North 2209.
