Cast circular uniface lead alloy token. The token has a raised design of initials, probably N or W followed by a second, illegible letter, on one side. The reverse appears blank. It is 19.9mm in diameter, 5.8mm thick and weighs 9.54 grams. It is unusually thick and pitted and may have a higher than usual tin content. Lead tokens were often made locally for a wide range of uses and those with initals are hard to date precisely but are generally Post Medivela in date (1500-1850 AD).

A cast lead alloy forgery of an Austrian Maria Theresa thaler. Around the edge of the coin it is possible to see a seam where the 2 halves of the mould used to cast it joined, and the remains of the casting sprue are also visible on the edge above the bust/eagle's crown. Maria Theresa was Empress from 1740 to her death in 1780, jointly with her husband Franz I from 1745 to 1765, and then with her son Joseph II from 1765 to 1780. The original coin of which this forgery is a copy was probably minted in Burgau, an Austrian possession near Ulm in Bavaria. [germany]

A probably contemporary copy of a halfpenny probably of George IV (AD 1820-1827), cast in lead and date (AD) 182(5?). The coin is not a particularly good likeness for the official issue, and being in lead alloy it would have had a different appearance to the copper coins of the time. The obverse depicts a crude bust facing left, while the reverse depicts a seated Britannia.

Contemporary copy of a Post Medieval farthing of Charles II dating to the period AD 1672 to 1679, Spink 3394. The coin appears to be in a lead alloy mix but is not a tin farthing as it lacks the neat square plug and also has the date on the reverse under Britannia rather than on the edge like the tin farthings. The raised border on both faces, around the design, irregularity of the letters, incorrect die axis measurement and a possible date of 1676 when farthings were not struck all also suggests it is a copy.

A plated copy of an 8 escudos coin of Philip III of Spain. Reverse: HISPANIARVM REX 1637; cross inside quadrilobe. The copper alloy plating has been damaged in places revealing a blueish core, probably lead alloy. A seem is visible around the outer edge of the coin and patches of gilding remain on each face. A Post Medieval lead alloy token probably dating 1600 - 1800. This token has a cross with a central pellet, in between each of the arms of the cross there appears to be a T-shape projecting from the central pellet; all within a linear border. This pattern also resembles a wheel. On the other side are the letters RW in retrograde. The shape of this token is very irregular. The lead alloy has a gilded appearance which is "nature's gilding" - tin sulphides Lead tokens are difficult to date precisely and could be Medieval to Post Medieval in date (1250-1800 AD). Lead uniface token 1700 to 1900 AD that has been bent into an S-shape and it is thought that this modification of coins was to create love tokens. Often the love tokens are made from a silver denomination as it was popular to turn coins (usually sixpences) into 'love tokens' as a keepsake. The coins were deliberately bent in a superstitious, religious, or devotional ritual. The devotional practice is believed to have gained popularity in post-reformation Elizabethan England and continued in to the 19th century. The ritual bending would have been performed when the coin was worn almost …

Half of a Post Medieval lead alloy core for a copy of a silver halfcrown of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The coin has been split in half and had a mid-dark grey pattination, indicative of lead alloy. Possibly a Post Medieval lead alloy forged coin or perhaps a weight. It may be a lead alloy core that originally had a coating to give it the impression of a higher value silver or gold coin. For example ryals, triple unites, five pounds, half-crowns etc. would be the same diameter though most would be somewhat lighter. Possibly dates to between c1583 and c1850 AD. The diameter is 34mm and weight is 27.24g.

A counterfeit lead alloy shilling of George III (AD 1760-1820). The artefact is missing chips to the left of the bust and a substantial part of its right side. NARC-60DCF1 suggests that most counterfeit coins attributed to George III’s reign are dated 1760. It is also possible this was intended as a gaming piece similar to DUR-87EBCD on the database. The object would be heavier than a shilling and appears quite coarse however it lacks the plain reverse to similar to gaming pieces, hence the suggestion of counterfiet coin.
