A contemporary forgery of a George III Halfpenny confirmed by Greg Spink of Spinks London. Apparently common around this possible date of 1775 (the last digit in exergue is not fully identifiable). The most identifying detail is the bust which is not George III in comparison to any of the issues. Obverse shows uniformed bust facing right with GEORGIVS III REX. Reverse shows Britannia seated left with BRITAN NIA.

The flan is circular and thick and bears the device of the United East India Company - an E to the right, I to the left, V above, C below, all enclosed within a heart-shaped border with a cross in saltire separating the letters. The obverse and reverse details are very worn and hard to decipher, apart from a radiate crown, and possibly an alter reverse. These coins were minted during the Williamite War in Ireland (AD 1689-1691) and were to be redeemed for silver coinage after the war. They were made from old cannons, bells and scrap metal. James failed in his attempt and the coins were never exchanged.
