Gold aureus of Antoninus Pius (AD 138-61), dating to AD 140-3 (Reece Period 7), TRIB POT COS III, Mars and Rhea Silvia. Mint of Rome. RIC III, p. 37, no. 99(b); BMC IV, p. 39, no. 253. This is a rare coin, the British Museum having one specimen. 17mm; 5.8g. The coin shares obverse dies with BMC IV no. 239 and reverse dies with BMC IV no. 253. It is Calico, The Roman Aurei (2003), vol 1, p. 318, no. 1686 (same dies).
