A fragmented (in three pieces) late medieval debased silver halfpenny of Henry VI (first reign,1422-61). Leaf Issue dating to the period (1434-1435). Mint of Calais. All inscription illegible, with surface displaying substantial verdigris. North (1991) no.1481. Measurements : diameter 13.4mm, thickness 0.4mm and weight 0.4g. Discussion : found together in the wake of a potato harvester already in three pieces. The only reference to be found regarding the leaf in one quarter (bottom of lower right quarter in photo) is by Withers and Withers (2004 58).
