A silver denarius probably of Trajan (AD 98-117). Uncertain reverse type depicting female figure - possibly Pax torching pile of arms and holding cornucopia. Mint of Rome. Cf. RIC 102 / BMC 400
Roughly one quarter of the coin has been lost due to a worn break within which is the remains of a piercing at 3 o'clock on the obverse. Originally pierced for suspension, the break is possibly due to wear at this stress point during its use as personal adornment.
