Mint of Rome. The preservation of this coin makes a close identification problematic, although cf. RIC II nos. 357-360 for the likely type.

The reverse of this coin shows a female figure (personification of the Via Traiana), reclining left holding a wheel and branch, which records the construction in AD 109 of the Via Traiana. The Via Traiana was an important highway which replaced the Via Appia as the preferred route between Beneventum and the port city of Brundisium on the Adriatic coast. RIC II, 641
