A gold Iron Age Gallo-Belgic quarter stater, dating to the period c.80-60 BC, Gallo-Belgic D / Boat Tree type. Obverse: Boat with two occupants? Pellet to left. Reverse: Tree-like motif, wedge shaped line to either side, forked line below.
The weight of this coin, combined with the pellet in obverse field and wedge shaped motifs in reverse field suggest that this is probably a Gallo-Belgic D rather than an insular British type. See Sills, 2017: p. 15, no. 25; ABC p. 29, no. 40; Scheers 13.

Merovingian copy of a gold solidus, dating to the 6th or early 7th century
The obverse is obviously initially copied from a coin of Anastasius (AD 491-518), but the actual type with the emperor holding a cross on globe is later, in use from the reign of Justinian I (AD 527-68) onwards. The name of Justininian has been replaced with that of Anastasius. Therefore the piece probably dates to the lat…

A clipped imitation of a medieval gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377). The obverse shows annulets on the cusps of the tressure and a lis in the centre of the reverse suggesting the prototype was a quarter noble of Edward III's Treaty Period, the annulets seen in the 'Transitional Series' of 1361-3 (North 1224), the lis seen in the Treaty Series of 1363-9 (North 1243-4). However, there are a number of differences: the inscriptions on both obverse and reverse vary from the standard legends although are both legible and literate, e.g. GRACIA is spelt in full…
