Very worn Henry VII silver penny, minted in Durham under Bishop Richard Fox. The obverse is particularly worn and very little of the design remains. It should show the king on a throne with one pillar. The reverse had fared slightly better in that half of the shield and the letter D to the left of it is just visible. To the right of the shield there should be a letter R, and there should be a mitre above the shield. Date range is 1489-1499. The coin is clipped and has a ragged edge to one side. 15mm diameter. A Post Medieval hammered silver coin of Henry VIII, a sovereign penny of the second coinage minted at Durham under Thomas Wolsey (N 1811). The initial mark is a trefoil. Dates to between 1526 and 1529 AD. The diameter is 14.9mm, and the weight is 0.6g. The obverse inscription is H D G ROSA SIN SPIA and the reverse inscription CIVI TAS DVR HAM. The coin is clipped.
