The flan has not been trimmed to the external border on just over half of the coin. There has been a slight loss on the inner pelleted border below the 'E' and 'D' on the obverse face; the reverse cross can be seen on the obverse on this thin coin.

This coin has been pierced, presumably for use as a jewellery item at a later date. Although this practice occurred in the Roman period it is most commonly documented as an early-medieval practice. The piercing respects neither obverse or reverse designs.
