A medieval silver gros à la fleur-de-lis (or 'gros au lis') of Philippe VI de Valois, King of France 1328-50. The outside edge featuring the exterior band of legend and decoration is very worn and damaged in places. Both surfaces retain traces of probable gilding, suggesting the coin may have been passed off originally as gold.
