A medieval halfpenny of Henry VI (1422-61), initial mark uncertain, early issue - probably rosette-mascle or pinecone-mascle (1427-34), mint of London. The coin is unfolded but shows a prominent fold to the reverse, between I T of CIVITAS and O n of LOn (to enclose the reverse). There is also a possible attempted piercing which has not completely perforated the coin at the top of the cross before CIVI on the reverse.

An incomplete medieval penny of Henry VI (first reign, 1422-61), cross-pellet or leaf-pellet type, extra pellets in the visible reverse quadrants, struck probably at London and dating to 1445-60. With thanks to Tom Redmayne and Carl Savage for the identification. Tom further comments 'There would be an extra pellet in all four quadrants. There is no visible quatrefoil for York or double rings for Durham at the centre of the reverse cross so it is most likely London mint' (pers. comm February 2017). Reference: North 1509-11 (leaf-pellet) or 1520-22 (cross-pellet).
