A silver medieval cut halfpenny attributed to the baronial coinage of William of Aumale, Earl of York, produced during the reign of Stephen (1135-1154) and dating to c. AD 1150, probably struck in York.  The design showing a knight advancing right with sword on the obverse, and a cross patée in quatrefoil with annulets on cusps and in margin on the reverse is known mostly from pennies of Eustace FitzJohn (North 929). Only two other examples in the name of William of Aumale are known (see EMC 2011.0025 and Fitzwilliam Museum CM.692-2005:&n…
