A damaged Early-Medieval silver Primary Phase sceat of Series D (type 2c), dating from c.700 - 715. This type was minted in the Netherlands. There is a large edge chip from the flan between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock on the obverse. It is 10.4mm in diameter and 1.7mm thick. It weighs 0.72gm.

An Early Medieval (Frisian) silver sceat dating to AD695-740. Series D type 2c. This coin is from the mint at Domburg in the Netherlands and is associated with the Frisian culture. The obverse depicts a crude bust facing right with a beaded crown, though this type would also have a triangular design above to imitate a radiate crown. Series E is an early series issued in Frisia for commerce in Dorestad on the Rhine mouth; early types including Series E G4 seem to have been minted from c. 700 AD and Series E types continue until c. 765 AD. An early medieval silver sceat, Primary Phase, Series E (VICO 1), mint: Domburg; date: c.700-705.
The coin is in good condition, however a layer of corrosion has built up on the surface, with the silver showing through on the raised surfaces. The obverse of the coin is a debased right facing bust which resembles a porcupine. The reverse of the coin has a standard with an annulet in the centre, a small saltire in two angles, and pellets in the other corners.
