An incomplete Early-Medieval silver sceat of Primary Phase Series E (variety D;c.680-710), probably minted in the Netherlands (possibly Frisia or Domburg). Ref: Metcalf and Op Den Velde 2009: 34-6.
Obverse: Quilled crescent coiled right, resembling a porcupine - beak and ? legs with annulet eye beneath
Reverse: Beaded standard containing single pellet in each corner with central annulet enclosing pellet.

An early medieval silver sceat, secondary phase, Series E (Metcalf & Op den Velde sub-variety a), mint: Domburg/Rivers area, c.720-40.
The Obverse shows a quilled figure with pellet eye and four legs some of which are joined thin diagonal raised lines. The reverse shows a beaded standard with pellet within annulet at centre and a pellet at each corner. Out side the standard on two opposing sides is at least one beaded line (at least two on one side set end to end).
