Measurements are; diameter 14.1mm, thickness 09mm and weight 1.10g. The surface of the coin has unusual pinprick pits. A good parallel is EMC number : 1054.1083. See North number 818 on page 179.

There is a central cross of Pirie type 1 on both faces. Diameter 12.6mm; thickness 0.9mm and weight 0.85g. See North 1963 vol 1 English Hammered Coins page 45, reference 196 and also Pirie (1982) plate IV number 382. Compare EMC number : 1006.0051 which has the same punctuation in the reverse legend.

See North (1994) Volume 1, number 787 on page 168. The coin is bent on one edge and has some areas of damage where there are holes. It has a diameter of 19.0mm, thickness 0.9mm, and weight 1.0g.

An incomplete Early Medieval silver coin; a penny of Cnut, Pointed Helmet type dating from AD 1024 - 1030, probably style IV (York). The moneyer's name begins with H (probably Hildred or Hildulf) at the York mint. See North Volume 1 (1994) number 787 on page 168. The coin is incomplete, with two thirds of the legend missing, and is cracked along the inside of the legend. It is 17.4mm long, 15.6mm wide and 0.4mm thick. 0.59g.

The coin is 12.8mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 0.73g. The obverse is worn, and there is a slight crack in the flan. Discussion: The coin is the same type as SWYOR-62B752 (EMC 2012.0025), and struck from the same pair of dies. A 7th-century Early Medieval gold coin; a thrymsa of the York Group (dating from 640 - 660 AD), of a new type classified as type D. The obverse resembles a standing figure facing forward holding a cross in each hand. The reverse has a central cross with flaring limbs and a lozenge in the centre. The cross is within a circle. Instead of a legend, the coin has four cross pommees arranged alternately with pairs of open triangles facing each other (runic 'd') to form an hourglass of figure or eight on its side.

A very base silver Early Medieval coin; a Northumbrian styca of Archbishop Wigmund (837 - 854); moneyer: Aethelweard Pirie interprets this type of coin as being issued in the early 840s during the first reign of Aethelred II (841 - 844). The coin has a diameter of 14mm and is 1mm thick. It weighs 0.75g. The coin is corroded but in fair condition. This coin has been recorded from photographs and details kindly provided by the finder.
