A copper alloy Early Medieval coin; a Northumbrian penny or styca, possibly a irregular coin of Osberht dating from AD 848 - 867, moneyer probably Monne. It is 11.9mm in diameter and 1.2mm, thick. It weighs 1.06g. See North number 191 and compare DUR-397205. The central motif is a pellet surrounded by 7 pellets on the obverse, and a single pellet on the reverse. The legends are blundered.

A fragment of an Early Medieval coin: a silver penny. Less than quarter of the coin survives, so identification is not at all certain, but it is possibly a penny of Edward the Elder (AD 899 - 924), Portrait type, moneyer Framwis. North (1994) Volume 1 number 651 on page 127. It is 10.2mm long, 8mm wide and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 0.23g.
