An Early Medieval silver Anglo-Saxon Sceat, dating to c.AD 700 - 715. Series W (Primary). Obverse: standing figure, right, long hair and jutting beard holding long cross pommee either side, with skeletal arms and fingers. The figure probably originally had a mailcoat of pellets, however this has been lost to surface wear. Reverse: Cross crosslet on saltire cross with a central pellet. Abramson Group 108, Type 20. The coin is incomplete, due to a brittle, thin flan and post depositional damage which has resulted in the whole inscription being lost. Evidence of this is present in the form of a crack on the inside of the ring of pellets on the reverse. North242, BMC32.
