An Early-Medieval base-silver sceat of Primary Phase, c.700-760.
Description: Series E, Variety G2 quilled 'porcupine' type. Obverse: Coarse-quilled crescent right, triangular head with two pellets. Reverse: degenerate beaded standard containing central pellet-in-annulet and broken line either side. Abramson (2012, 189 no 89.20). The coin is quite corroded, worn and chipped.
Measurements: 11.93mm in diameter, 2.25mm thick and 0.89g in weight.

An Early-Medieval base-silver sceat of Secondary Phase, c.700-760. Series E related, quilled 'porcupine' type. Obverse: Fine-quilled crescent right, rounded head enclosing three bars. Reverse: beaded standard containing central annulet and angular symbols. Abramson (2012. 198) No. 97.20. This coin is quite debased and is afflicated by copper corrosion.
Measurements: 11.67mm diameter, 1.57mm thick and 1.08g in weight.
