An incomplete early-medieval silver penny of Eadwald of East Anglia (c.796-798/800), new type (see below), mint: East Anglia (Ipswich?), moneyer Eadnoth. The coin is badly chipped, cracked and incomplete, missing much of the outer edge as well as two larger, triangular-shaped fragments. The coin is a previously unknown type, the obverse design as Naismith E2.2, the reverse related to Naismith E4, a type struck for the moneyer Wihtred, but not seen previously for this moneyer.
