An early medieval Series D type 2c sub variety 3d early silver penny (sceat or sceatta) dating to between 690-710 AD. As Metcalf 1993: 184-190 or Abramson 2017: 65, 8-10. The obverse has a radiate crowned bust facing right with transverse A behind. The reverse has a central cross with a pellet in each angle surrounded by blundered letters. This type is thought to be a continental issue, likely minted at Domburg. An extremely worn silver coin of uncertain ruler and date, from the early medieval to post medieval periods, c. AD 900-1800. The coin has been in association with salt water for some time, and its outer surface is now correded and irregular with accretions adhered to it. It is possibly a contemporary forgery, with a plated outer surface, as a crack at the edge of the flan appears to show an exterior layer that is distinct from the core of the coin. Measurements: 26.9mm diameter, 4.5mm thickness, weight 8.06g.

An early medieval silver penny of Harold Harefoot dating to AD 1038-1040. Fleur-de-Lis type. North (1994) no 803. Minted at Exeter by Eadmer. Martin Allen has kindly commented that this is the first example of a coin of Eadmer in the Fleur-de-Lis type recorded by the EMC. It is recorded there as EMC 2019.0391. Measurements: 17.9mm diameter, 0.9mm thickness, weight 1.06g.

It measures 17mm in diameter and weighs 0.9g. The obverse and reverse inscription is matched by an unillustrated coin listed in the British Museum catalogue, no. 1310 (Grueber and Keary 1887 (repr. 1970): 439).
