Half of a silver coin dating from the Early Medieval period. It is 20mm long, 10.6mm wide, and 1.15mm thick. It weighs 0.72gm. The coin has pairs of parallel lines at right angles to each other on the obverse, perhaps representing a building, and a cross and pellets on the reverse. With only half the coin to work from, it has not been possible to identify it yet, but it has been suggested that it is probably a Carolingian "Temple" type denier, or possibly an Anglo-Saxon or Anglo-Viking derivative.
