Reverse inscription: +.MON.NE (retrograde, some letters inverted)
Stycas are not common finds outside of the core area of Deira (southern Northumbria), North Lincolnshire and the northern half of Lincolnshire.

Early Medieval Northumbrian styca, Pirie's Phase II, ruler/archbishop undefined LH image. Central motif of four pellets in diamond shape, found in Pirie's Phase II (late Eanred to Osberht, so c. AD837 onwards), inscription probably +VV[...]D for the moneyer Wulfred (Uulfred) or Archbishop Wulfhere (Uulfhere), sometimes inscribed as VVLFHED. This moneyer minted for both kings and the Archbishop.
