A worn and bent late early-medieval mid 11th-century silver cut halfpenny of Edward the Confessor. Although the artefact has been bent over, obscuring the reverse face, the obverse bust suggests that it is of the 'Expanding Cross' type, probably North 823 (heavy coinage), and can thus be tentatively dated to either 1052 or 1053 AD.
