A very fine Early Medieval gold Merovingian tremissis of the 'National gold' series dating to c. AD 580-670. Unidentified mint and moneyer, possibly Frisian. The obverse depicts a bust facing left, crude in style, wearing a diadem and with stylised drapery. There is a partial linear border to the left.
