An incomplete silver Anglo-Saxon penny of the anonymous Temple type of East Anglia, c.870-880 AD. It is missing parts of the outer edge of the coin, with one very small detached fragment, due to old breaks. Dr. Martin Allen (Fitzwilliam Museum) notes that it belongs to a group of coins published by Mark Blackburn (BNJ 75, 2005: p. 38), one of which is from the same dies as the current example (Blackburn's An2).

An early medieval silver sceat of Primary Phase Series A; mint: Kent, weight 1.18g, Metcalf pp.85ff, c.680-690. The attribution of the coin to a sub-type of Series A is not easy. The reverse is very similar to Series A1 with the semi-circular 'horns' emanating from each top corner; and the letters IP (P retrograde) on the righthand side of the standard. The tufa is larger than other illstrated examples, although only three are listed by EMC and no other by PAS (as of 2/10/2014). The inscription on the obverse, however, reads TIC rather than TIIC and the hair-line below the crown is…
