Silver coin. Porcupine sceat of Series E, possibly primary series of 700-710. Not clearly paralleled in Abramson 2006.
Obverse description: Quilled crescent with pellet ends to quills, a separate row of pellets, a curved line, and two bars below a triangle and pellet 'eye'.
Reverse description: Neat standard with central annulet, inner and outer beaded frames; though described as 'degenerate TOT [etc.]' (Abramson 2006, pages 86-7), the inner framing does not appear derivative of lettered forms.
Diameter: 11.2mm, Weight: 0.87gms.

A possible contemporary copy, in lead, of an Anglo-Saxon silver sceatta. It is circular and has incised motifs on both sides. One side is decorated with a crescent of diagonally hatched lines, similar to the 'porcupine' imagery seen on Series E sceattas. In this instance, however, the diagonal lines run in the opposite direction to those on Series E sceattas. The decoration on the other side is more difficult to determine, and appears to comprise a series of geometric lines.

Silver coin. Possibly a porcupine sceat of Series E, possibly a half unit (cf. E151). On the obverse detail of the 'quills', which entirely lack the pelleted ends where they spring from the curving 'body', is unusual. On the reverse, the standard motif lacks a range of additional features, and is again a shorthand version of the reverse of larger coins.
Obverse description: Eight long quills arising from a crescent; two bars within its curve.
Reverse description: Rectangular standard with central annulet and outer border of pellets.
Suggested date: Early Medieval, 710-7…

A copper alloy Early Medieval coin; a styca of Aethelred II, probably first reign (AD 840 - 844). The moneyer is Leofdegn and the coin is from Pirie's group Ci or Cii. The cross on the obverse face is Pirie's type 1 and the reverse symbol a pellet surrounded by a ring of dots. This is not listed as an option in Pirie's table or Group C central motifs, and is most similar to Group A, type 5b, but without the outer line ring. The letter G in Leofdegn impinges on the central motif.

A broken lead disc with decoration on both sides. The disc measures 18mm in diameter and is as thin as a silver hammered coin; much thinner than the range of post-medieval tokens.
One side appears to have a star or cross in the centre, with lines extending from the angles to form triple stranded terminals. Between each line is a worn crescent motif. The other side is worn but also contains decoration.
Its size, thinness and decoration somewhat recall the portrait type coins of Offa. However, it may alternatively be an earlier 7th-century forgery based on either Merovingian or Angl…
