A half of a possible cast lead counterfitters mould for a George III halfpenny (34mm x 37mm; thickness: 6mm; weight: 34.74g), probably dating between 1800-20 AD as '18[ ]' is just visible on the surface. The bust seems to be facing right with the remains of the inscription around the outer edge. The back of the possible mould is plain with no decroation. However, if this artefact is mould, the inscription especially is not deep enough. It seems that this artefact may have also been taken from a real coin to get an impression with the coin placed on the lead.

A lead-alloy object, possibly a barbarous radiate dating to the period AD 275 to 285 (Reece period 14). The coin is slightly unusual in that it is cast and comprises a flat circular plate from which two flat triangular lugs extend. One of the lugs is bent back on itself towards the reverse. The obverse depicts a bust, possibly wearing a radiate crown, facing right. The reverse is illegible and features a series of casting swirls. Lead/ tin antoninianus contemporary cast forgery, 21mm in diameter. The flan is incomplete so part of the legend on obverse and any mint mark on the reverse are lost. Mint of prototype is Siscia. Weighs 4.82g. When new and in bright condition this coin would probably have passed easily as the plated, copper alloy antoninianus it was copying. Late 3rd century. Ref. RIC, cf 156.

Unusual lead disc with the obverse of a coin on one surface. The surface depicts the bust of the emperor Septimus Severus looking right wearing a laureate crown. Surrounding this is the inscription SEVERVS AVG PART MAX. The reverse is complete filed flat and smooth. The perimeter of the object is irregular in places and even has what appears to be a striking crack above the head of the emperor.

Contemporary cast lead/tin forgery of an antoninianus of Tacitus. It has has incomplete flan, so part of the legend on the obverse and any mint mark on the reverse are lost. Lead or gun-metal cast of a Sestertius of Orbiana, wife of Severus Alexander (222-35AD). Type as RIC IV, pt. 2, p. 122, no. 657. It is hard to say whether this is a contemporary or modern copy. Cast coins were produced in the 3rd century, often called "Limesfalsa", singular "Limesfalsum". However, this piece is apparently not made from copper alloy, but from a lead or zinc based alloy. To make a more considered judgement, the Finds Adviser would need to see this coin.

A lead disc from an alnage cloth seal of probable late 17th to early 18th century date. The sub-circular disc retains a portion of the folded connecting strip. The upper surface bears a crowned thistle in stamped relief. The thistle separates 'I / I/2', the duty in pence. Around the perimeter of the disc is a segmented border. The piece measures 16.9mm long, 14.5mm wide and 0.9mm thick. The weight is 1.13g.

A modern copy of a North-Eastern 'Ferriby' stater. This example is made out of lead. The obverse depicts a wreath made of two lines of diagonal lines. Next to this are two pellets. A deep groove runs across the coin adjacent to the lines. The reverse depicts a rather clumsy attempt at a horse left. This revese of this coin is almost identical to that on an apparently unfinished copy found several miles to the north-west in Stainton by Langworth: LIN-B89EFD. A square sheet of lead with decoration that resembles the 'wreath crossed by a line' seen on the obverse of late Iron Age gold 'Ferriby' staters. The sheet is roughly square and has two rows of oval pellets running across the centre, with what appear to be two lines crossing it with possible crescentric terminals. The other side has a kidney-shape motif formed by concentric lines, but this is probably the result of the way the lead has solidified rather than being decoration. This object is possibly a failed casting of a lead core for a plated stater.
