A copper alloy Roman as (possibly a contemporary copy / Limesfalsum) of Maximus (while Caesar under his father Maximinus I) dating to AD 236-238 (Reece Period 11). PIETAS AVG reverse depicting a collection of priestly implements used for sacrifice (lituus, knife, patera, jug, simpulum and sprinkler). Mint of Rome. As RIC IVb p. 156 no. 12b; BMC VI, pp. 239-40, nos. 208-9. The coin is light (2.2g) and does seem to have a 'soapy' appeareance. If a copy / Limesfalsum, it could have been produced in the AD 240s.
