An incomplete, Late Medieval C15th, struck or hammered, silver, Henry VI first reign (1422-1461), annulet issue penny. Obverse: Crowned head facing with annulets either side of the neck. Inscription: [HEN]RICVS' RE(X) []. Reverse: Long cross with an annulet in two quarters. Inscription: [VILL]A CAL[AIS]. Mint name: Calais. Die axis: 1 o'clock. Approximately half the coin is broken away and there is a slight fold down the long cross probably caused by agricultural machinery. Little wear or very fine condition with a dark silver patina. This coin is likely to date to between 1422-1430. …
