The obverse is entirely illegible, but the reverse still displays a part of the cruciform of crowned shields enabling dating of the coin. No marks or letters present, so possibly uncompleted. An incomplete Early Medieval early silver sceat. Description: Primary Phase Series BI, Type 27b, ( Abramson Theme 2; Group16; Variety 10) dating to c. AD 685 - 700, struck in south-east England. The coin has an uneven break with the loss of approximately a third of the flan. Obverse: Diademed bust, right, shoulder breaking beaded circle. Reverse: Bird on cross pattee with annulet at end of each horizontal arm. Measurements: Diameter: 12.5mm; thickness: 1.4mm; weight: 0.78g. Discussion:  As in Abramson (2012, p 82) and North, No.126.
